People are powerless by choice. In fact, I do not believe I have ever met an adult without power. They simply choose to never exercise it in a personally beneficial way. So, how about you?
It seems to me that each of us could find ways to gain in life if we occasionally conducted a personal inventory of our “PPB” (Personal Power Base).
One of the greatest sources of power can be found in authority. Authority is another attribute belonging to every human. An infant has authority immediately after emerging from the comfort of the womb into the harsh reality of life on the outside. That authority is voiced by the cry --- the cry for recognition of needs; the need for food, a clean dry bottom, warmth, and relationship.
As we grow up, out, and older, it becomes obvious to many of us that there is something dynamic occurring involving authority, power, and a personal struggle to balance them for personal success.
Now, just in case I have lost you up to this point due to my inability to be more succinct, here is what I have been trying to say:
1. Everyone has power
2. Everyone has power because of innate authority
3. Everyone has engaged in a struggle to succeed on some level
It may be that most people never succeed because they never become engaged in the struggle. You can succeed by standing on the shoulders of your past failures. Take inventory. Count the times when you used your authority to exercise power. Take inventory of the struggles. Get the clear picture of where you have been to have a clear picture of where you are going and the path to get there.
Need help? Most of us never accomplished anything on our own.
